Nicole A. Johnson

Dr. Nicole A. Johnson is a clinical paediatric rheumatologist practicing at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and a member of the Caribbean Association of Rheumatology. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Calgary, Evaluation Coordinator for Pediatric Clerkship for the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), member of the Student Academic Review Committee for the CSM and Associate Director for MD admissions for the CSM. Internationally, she is a co-lead for the Collaborative for Professionalism and Faculty Development for the Counsel on Medical Education in Pediatrics. She is Co-Curriculum Lead for Post Graduate Medical Education for Racial Equity in Healthcare at the CSM, Chair for the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force for the Canadian Rheumatology Association and Physician Lead for the medical student mentor program in the Black Physicians’ Association of Alberta. Dr. Johnson’s research focus is on the treatment and health outcomes in children and youth with paediatric rheumatic diseases, specifically quality of life assessment in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. She has received the Pediatrics CARE award for Education (2023), Calgary Black Achievement Award for STEM from the Calgary Black Chambers (2021), and inaugural award for Mentorship from the Black Physicians of Canada (2023).
