Shannon D. Scott

Professor Shannon D. Scott is a Professor, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Distinguished Researcher and CRC in Knowledge Translation in Child Health. She is the Principal Investigator of ECHO, an internationally recognized program of nursing research that cuts across multiple disciplines and merges research and the arts, focusing on knowledge translation in paediatric health settings to improve outcomes for children, their families, and the health care system. She is also a founding co-director of Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids and the Dean at the Faculty of Nursing. Through her cutting-edge research, she innovatively merges the best available synthesized research with the power of parents’ experiential knowledge and the potency of the arts. Her research has resulted in critical advancements in patient engagement and nursing science through the development of new research approaches. Professor Scott holds many distinctions, as a Stollery Science Lab Distinguished Researcher; Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing Excellence in Nursing Research awardee; an inductee of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of Scholars, Artists & Scientists; an inaugural Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Nursing in 2020; and Sigma’s 2021 International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame inductee.
